The Walkway School Redefines the Connection Between Home, School, and Community

With a vision to help underprivileged children of Sindh, The Walkway School (TWS) in Hyderabad is redefining the meaning of education by bringing the primary pillars of society such as home, school, and community together.

When we say home, we don’t mean the luxuries an average Pakistani child has – the luxuries of living under a safe roof with nothing to worry about. Since most of our young learners belong to streets, with the lack of basic facilities, this shifts our focus on how to educate their families in the process and make their experiences better overall.

This is where the concept of family-school partnership comes into play. It helps both our volunteer-teachers and child’s family to develop strong relationships among themselves and focus on educating the whole community. Not to mention, we also take the motivation of the community members seriously so that they can cooperate better with our educators for prosperity and growth of children.

The greatest advantage of home-school partnership is that parents also can learn basic teaching concepts, grow with their children, and get to know others in the community. Besides, they can make this initiative grow larger by volunteering for a good cause.

In addition to what we have discussed above, it has been observed that children tend to learn better when the significant adults in their lives work in close association for a single goal and support their learning throughout. As you would expect, when adults [such as parents, teachers, and other community members] work together, they can provide us with a better point of view. Eventually, those views help us improve our policies and bring constant changes in our system.

Family-school partnership at The Walkway School is what gives us an edge over other organisations in the country. We deeply understand the fact that a strong relationship between educators and child’s family is integral for upholding the same standards at home and at school.

Do you think that partnership between parents and teachers can affect a child’s learning? And, what more can be done to cultivate stronger and better home and school partnerships? Let us know about your views on the subject at the Website | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter |LinkedIn
