A Revolutionized Community Built on the Intricate Experiences of Each Student, The Walkway School – By Eiman Jokhio

No matter how remote of a beginning The Walkway School started with, the impact it contributed to still resonates inside every student’s heart. This impact is what gives The Walkway School its sentimental value, making it more personal, and related to every child’s story. Every child that has made their presence known to this organization comes from a different background. Yet, The Walkway School has never deterred from helping each of them amount to similar potential and opportunities.

Let us introduce you to the sole foundation of this cause, the students that work hard to make their place in society with the help of The Walkway School:

1. Mehwish- an over-achieving and intelligent gem of a student.

The Walkway school has played an important role in Mehwish’s academic dreams by providing for her private school education for more than four years now. Mehwish’s father had to choose which one of his kids he could send to a private school due to a lack of financial resources. The Walkway School has funded her entire education and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Mehwish is a smart, driven individual who has enjoyed passing each grade with the highest grades. If The Walkway School had not made it possible for her to receive a quality education, the future of this society would have been compromised immensely.

2. Farooq and Humaira- a power duo that enjoys breaking financial barriers with the help of The Walkway School.

The siblings, Farooq and Humaira come from a family which survives on minimum wage(approximately $1.5 per day). This makes it impossible for both of these strong-willed students to get quality education. The Walkway School has managed to cater to their needs and helped bridge the financial gap that initially stood between them and private schooling. Both Farooq and Humaira have worked hard to make The Walkway School and their family proud and are looking forward to availing numerous opportunities in the future.

3. Bisma- a true inspiration.

Most of the underprivileged communities today still commit to the stigma around female schooling by neglecting girls’ right to education. Bisma, a student at The Walkway School, comes from one such community. She is the first girl to ever attend school from her tribe, and The Walkway School is proud to represent her story as an inspiration. Bisma is a true asset to this society, one who managed to break free of the generational barrier that existed for years before her. The Walkway School will continue to stand by her throughout her educational years and help her in making her dreams come true.

4. Saba- a firm believer in the saying “ hard work pays off”.

The Walkway School has made sure not to give up on any of its students and Saba is one such example. Saba loves to learn and has big dreams for her academic path. Her father owns a vegetable cart and has managed to raise saba -into the determined girl that she is today- with what little he had. She had trouble passing her finals two consecutive times that she attempted them. However, The Walkway School vowed to stand by her at all times and managed to help her pass the third time. Saba never once gave up and her determination to be the best continues to inspire her peers every day.

5. Abida and Arifa-  a beloved addition to the walkway family.

The Walkway School is grateful for each and every one of its students. Abida and Arifa are two sisters who, also, have high hopes for their future. Both of them have a passion for learning and show great potential. Hopefully, with The Walkway School’s financial aid, their dream to study in a private school will come true sooner rather than later!

6. Dilbar – determined, competitive, and stubborn.

Dilbar likes to be better at everything than his classmates and is highly motivated to study with everything he has to offer.  The Walkway School is helping Dilbar get into a good school in order to allow him to be his best self and showcase his talents confidently.

7. Kulsoom- art and life enthusiast.

The Walkway School is particularly fond of Kulsoom. Not only because of her academic motivation but also because of her keen interest in the colorful things in life. The Walkway School has not held back and encouraged students who take interest in artistic pursuits, providing art and music classes as well. Kulsoom is excited to face life, knowing the world is full of possibilities and she can pursue her dreams with The Walkway School by her side every step of the way.

“Working to enable education for all, especially girls, was something I did not plan but ended up doing.”
says Moazzam Shah, founder @ The Walkway School.

What started as an idea tackled numerous barriers and provided a lot of underprivileged kids with opportunities that otherwise would never have been imaginable.
