Our Story
Empowering Through Education
The Walkway School (TWS) is a youth-led, youth-centered social enterprise focused on tackling the educational crisis in Pakistan’s underserved rural areas. Founded in 2018, TWS is committed to providing free, high-quality education to children facing severe economic and social barriers, helping bridge the gap for Pakistan’s 28 million out-of-school children. Driven by young leaders who believe in the power of education, TWS aims to empower the next generation with skills and opportunities that can break cycles of poverty.
At TWS, sustainable development and community collaboration are at the core of our approach. By partnering with local communities, public institutions, and private organizations, we maximize resource efficiency and minimize costs, creating a model that prioritizes impact over expense. Our resilient, low-cost infrastructure doubles as a safe community hub and learning center, providing essential resources like clean water for the surrounding areas.
Through youth empowerment initiatives, TWS builds leadership, teamwork, and 21st-century skills, encouraging young people to become advocates for education and community development. Together, we are working to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for Pakistan.

Lives Through Education
1. Consult
We start by engaging with local communities to understand their unique challenges, needs, and aspirations. This ensures our interventions are rooted in empathy, cultural relevance, and shared ownership.
2. Design
Our youth-led team co-creates innovative, cost-effective educational solutions—ranging from modular school infrastructure to custom learning modules—that are sustainable, inclusive, and adaptable to local contexts.
3. Execute
With precision, purpose, and partnership, we implement these solutions through volunteer mobilization, cross-sector collaboration, and grassroots action, transforming underserved spaces into thriving centers of learning and hope.

Focus Areas
Strategic Areas of Impact
At The Walkway School, our strategic areas of impact are the pillars that guide our mission to transform education in underserved communities. Each focus area represents a commitment to creating sustainable, community-driven solutions that empower individuals and foster long-term growth.
Access to Education for Disadvantaged Children
According to the International Monetary Fund, the Walkway School (TWS) recognizes the severe challenges facing disadvantaged children in Pakistan, a country with a population of 238.5 million and ranked 52nd among the poorest nations globally. Harsh economic conditions have deepened poverty and furthered the isolation of underprivileged communities, leaving them with little access to basic needs, let alone education. With recent UNICEF reports highlighting that the number of out-of-school children in Pakistan has risen from 22.8 million to 28 million, TWS addresses this critical issue by providing free education to empower these children. Amidst a backdrop where poverty affects 39.4% of the population, and only 1.7% of GDP is allocated to education—far below the international standard of 4%—TWS is filling a substantial void. By making education accessible, TWS helps break the cycle of poverty and equips youth with the tools to contribute to a more prosperous future for themselves and their communities. By doing so, TWS proudly contributes to SDG4 Quality Education, specifically Target 4.1, which aims to ensure all children complete free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education by 2030.
Community and Institutional Collaboration
TWS believes sustainable impact is best achieved through collaboration rather than building separate educational institutions. By forming partnerships with existing public and private institutions, TWS can bridge the gap between communities and established educationalist systems. This approach not only allows for a sustainable and efficient use of resources but also minimizes operational costs through shared responsibilities. Such collaborations support smoother student integration into various institutions and amplify the reach and effectiveness of TWS’s programs. TWS’s collaborative model optimizes available resources and strengthens community bonds, creating a collective commitment to advancing educational access for all. By doing so, TWS proudly contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, particularly Target 17.17, which encourages effective public, public-private, and civil society partnerships.
Sustainable Infrastructure Development
In addition to providing education, TWS focuses on creating low-cost, sustainable classroom infrastructure that can be readily implemented and maintained in rural areas. These classrooms are designed to serve as safe, multi-functional spaces that not only function as schools but also as community hubs. In regions where access to clean water is scarce, TWS integrates water facilities within these spaces, providing a vital resource for both students and the broader community. By keeping renovation and maintenance costs minimal, TWS ensures that its facilities remain operational with minimal financial strain, enabling these centers to have a lasting impact. This approach embodies TWS’s commitment to fostering resilient and accessible learning environments that support the holistic needs of the communities they serve. By doing so, TWS proudly contributes to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, specifically Target 9.1, which emphasizes the development of sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
Youth Empowerment and Community Mobilization
TWS actively nurtures a sense of responsibility and leadership among youth, empowering them to contribute positively to society. Through targeted programs, young individuals are given the opportunity to develop crucial skills such as team collaboration, effective communication, and leadership—competencies essential in today’s global workforce. By focusing on capacity building, TWS prepares youth not only for academic success but also for meaningful roles within their communities. This empowerment drives a ripple effect: inspired youth, equipped with 21st-century skills, take ownership of local issues and become advocates for continued community development. Through this emphasis on empowerment, TWS fosters a generation that values service and is ready to lead and uplift their communities. By doing so, TWS proudly contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, specifically Target 8.6, which focuses on reducing the proportion of youth not in employment, education, or training by enhancing skills.
